Sorry for being late to this thread, but I think we should continue in place upgrades. All the issues that pop up are issues that we need to solve and while it can be taxing on our resources these bugs will be exposed either way. As Sage branches out from its core group of users which are probably on average much more familiar with development we should work hard on providing binary packages for Debian & Ubuntu soon and others later. Tim Abbott and I have started working on this in earnest since last night and we hopefully have something by the end of Sage Days 7.
