The simple answer is that currently most people involved in
creating Sage are pure mathematicians, so this is what we
know best, so what we emphasize.  I would love for the Sage
web page, etc., to also strongly emphasize the value of Sage
for a much wider range of "computational thinking".  Specific
suggestions for ways to improve things are very much welcome.
