Guilty :-). The slowdown I think you're referring to was actually me, running a big dsage job that involved computing Hecke operators needed to finish a paper. I bought sage.math using NSF money specifically to support my research program, so for better or worse, that work should take precedence over the public sage notebook servers. I have not received any money yet for hardware to support Sage notebook servers, and when I do I will use it to buy a machine dedicated to running them.
