Hi guys, I just wanted to chime in on SAGE Lite in terms of the
benefits it provides for DSage.

I think having a lite version of SAGE would decrease the barrier of
entry significantly for people who want to join a computation running
dsage. It will be a smaller download, faster install and require
fewer dependencies.

That being said, if someone wanted to do computation using DSage, I
would think they would need to use many of the highly optimized (and
therefore not Python based) functionality available in SAGE. This
means that dsage clients running sage lite would be potentially
useless.

It would be optimal if people who wanted to distribute sage lite
clients for the use of dsage could customize the sage lite package to
include extra dependencies they need. An analogous process is for
example creating a virtual machine for distribution. You install a
very basic set of core utilities and then the packages you want a user
to have access to and bake it together.

To reiterate, here is the work flow I am thinking of:
1) I have a problem for which I've coded up a solution in DSage
2) I want more people to participate but realize that a complete SAGE
install is too much for many of my potential volunteers.
3) I grab a SAGE Lite package off SAGE's website
4) I untar the SAGE Lite package and install Robert's graph theory package
5) I tar it back up and put it on my website for people to download.
I could potentially also have configured all the DSage settings to
connect to my server so people can just extract and run!

Cheers,
Yi
