I don't know if this is related to what the original poster wants, but
I've been wondering lately whether there is software for doing
computations in modular representation theory (where the characteristic
of the field divides the order of the group).  For example, computations
in the ring kG for k a field (finding idempotents, computing powers of
the Jacobson radical, etc) and computations in the category of
kG-modules (breaking modules into indecomposables, computing cohomology
and Tate cohomology, computing groups of homomorphisms and also groups
of homomorphisms modulo those that factor through a projective, etc.)

Any suggestions?
