Great. I have some more potential patches for issues that I have
partially investigated. Some are cleanup and some other touch memory
issues.

If you mean 64 bit with Athlon64 I have to tell you that cygwin does
not support a 64 bit runtime on Windows. It can run as a 32  bit
processon on a 64 bit Windows. It then is subject to the same
limitation memory as any other 32 bit process. That is one of the
reasons that made me start the Linbox port to MSVC 2005.

While we are talking about Windows: Has anybody tried running the
cygwin binary on a Microsoft Vista box? Somewhere in the doc it has
been stated that it probably doesn't work while in my opinion it
probably should. I have not been cursed/blessed (depends on your
perspectice :)) with a Vista box, so please let us know so we can
update the documentation.
