I guess it would be possible to save the history more often than on exit and 
thus to preserve it if SAGE crashes. 

The %sagex thing is cool because it is a very quick way to test out some 
compiled code, wrap a library, run a C loop for benchmarking.

Does that answer you question? I don't quite understand it.
