Yes, I'm interested in taking this forward and working with others motivated to get sage packaged up. I'm a debian person myself (have been since 1996 or so) and have successfully built a sage debian package recently. I guess rpms etc may eventually be possible... I've got an account on alioth.debian.org and was about to establish a pkg-sage project there. The first thing I was going to do was post my detailed notes on how I got the package working...including debian/rules and modifications to the Makefiles etc. etc. I'm extremely busy this week at work but will have some time on the weekend. I see you just posted to the list again saying you would be working on a deb package. It will be interesting to compare notes on how we went about it...good luck.
