I will retain copyright on all my contributions, but I have some questions anyway:
1) If the SAGE foundation ceases to exist, what happens to the copyright of the code which the SAGE foundation eats? Does the copyright become worthless, or does it revert to the original author? 2) Assuming I retain copyright of my own code, what happens if someone modifies the code submitted by me? How does the copyright work there? I presume whoever submits a modification, retains copyright on their modification. Though in a heavily modified module, that must be a nightmare to keep track of. And what if it is a bug fix? Am I only allowed to relicense my work without the bug fixes. Copyright is such a stupid thing on open source software. But it is required by the GPL, and I don't see any benefits in handing copyright over to SAGE, except to quell some of the problems that arise because the work was copyright in the first place.
