Assalamu aleikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

Sorry, Mehdi. Still no success.

The installation from the Windows side went well now, but after rebooting I
got a "system error". I looked it up: ubiquity-dm caused some sort of error.
Clicking after that the "Install 11.10" icon does absolutely nothing. I tried
this several times, uninstalling and reinstalling on the Windows side in
between.

At initial install, Wubi asks for a user name and password. It seems it does
not pass it on to the installation. The system starts with user "ubuntu",
without password, instead. Setting up a new user does not stick. New keyboard
layout and monitor settings became effective, but also did not stick. Strange
thing, upon starting Wubi in Windows, the language that was selected was
Dutch. That is correct. But when I wanted to change the keyboard settings, I
found that only the British English layout was selected. That means my
keyboard got detected wrongly (Dutch layout I might have understood, though it
would also be wrong), because I use US layout (because I need International
with dead keys). There is no British keyboard in sight. In fact, the system
behaves as if it is running from a live CD. There is no "log off" option, but
I enabled Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. The subsequent log on screen then shows various
desktop managers, including Gnome (which I wanted to see), but still actually
logs on using Unity. Trying to log on as the newly created user fails.

I don't know whether the error is specific to my machine. After successively
failing to install Sabily 11.10 32-bit using wubi, I tried to install Ubuntu
11.10 64-bit (as I eventually want the 64-bit version anyway; I thought I
might subsequently upgrade it to Sabily 64-bit). This also failed. The install
process seems to start, but then reports that ubi.partman exits with code 141.
I tried this also several times. I assume it is a new partition manager; when
I tried to run gparted from the live CD, it was no problem.

I suppose I will have to be patient until you release Sabily 64-bit on the
26th, Insha'Allah.

Wassalam.
