17:44 <AnAnt> ScottK: are distro like Debian/Ubuntu considered commercial or not ? 17:45 >ScottK< AnAnt: Putting in the distro is non-commercial. Selling a CD with the package on it would be commercial. I would really advise in the future that we use free licenses (that also allow commercial use), and only include *FREE* software (currently we are including non-free Adobe's Acrobat Reader, Flash player and Skype) to avoid future problems. > > *Permission is partially granted.* I would be happy to have my work as part > > of your project. > > Also note that "The Tree" Album is under a *Creative Commons > > Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0* licence, please visit > > http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/us/ ---end quoted text--- Ok, we can use them, but they will be in Ubuntu's non-free (multiverse) repository because of the non-commercial license. Please look at point #6 in: http://www.debian.org/social_contract#guidelines Which reminds me (I hope Mehdi is reading this). I just checked Taha Selim USTUN's deviant art webpage, I found that he licenses all the wallpapers that he sent us using one of Creative Commons *NON COMMERCIAL* licenses. So in addition, that we do not know for sure license & copyright holders for the original wallpapers from which he derived the wallpapers that he sent us, they are also *NON COMMERCIAL*, another reason to make us not use them, despite that they are wonderful ! -- أحمد المحمودي (Ahmed El-Mahmoudy) Digital design engineer GPG KeyID: 0x9DCA0B27 (@ subkeys.pgp.net) GPG Fingerprint: 087D 3767 8CAC 65B1 8F6C 156E D325 C3C8 9DCA 0B27 _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~sabily.team Post to : sabily.team@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~sabily.team More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
