Thomas responded positively, so here we are. On the other hand Gavin has brought to our attention a problem with command expansion. Whereas this is (unfortunately) again part of a larger topic, the laststring() related problems that he has shown i'm in the process to address at the moment. Also, Thomas' bug report has shown that the BSD memory caches do not really support, and the GNU LibC memory allocator only weirdly supports debugging only. Thus i'll add encapsulating canaries for the debug memory wrapper of S-nail in order to catch buffer overflows on our own (and get sane and useful messages on error, not this arbitrary nonsense that could be seen in the ticket). I think it makes sense to do some more testing with the two latter changes before releasing a minor revision. But, since on GNU Linux systems S-nail is effectively unusable for at least reading of mails, i think i'll release a subminor today, and the announced minor right before Christmas.
