Please read the ITK documentation defining origin, spacing and direction: https://itk.org/ITKSoftwareGuide/html/Book1/ITKSoftwareGuide-Book1ch4.html#x45-500004.1 You probably want to update the origin when you change the direction indeed. Spacing should not be changed.
