IMHO bittorrent is a better way to do this.

Bittorrent might be good for an initial distribution, but the problem we're focused on right now is auto-updating games that have already been distributed on DVD. Typical updates change-sets are quite small compared with the size of the originally distributed package (ie: 10s of MB), so the bandwidth side of things isn't a huge concern.
