I have nothing else to contribute but to confirm that it does
happen... in my case, it's usually because something goes wrong in GTK
and/or pygtk since I use rpy in this environment. But I have always
been puzzled by the fact that R is catching the exception...

I just felt that it sometimes feels good to know that you are not the
only one in your situation, even if none of us have any clue on what
is going on ;)
