Hi

Sorry that your new life is brutal.
I have a very simple (potential) solution to the repeat problem. You already
have a 'Lilypond directive' text in the notation editor. At least, in my (old)
version of Rosegarden (10.0.2), the user cannot enter text, only choose options
from the menu. My apologies if this has changed since then.

Assuming it hasn't, why not make it a 'free' text entry, so if the user wanted
to do a repeat with a first and second time bar, for example, he could enter
"\repeat volta 2 {" at the beginning of the repeat (wherever he wants it, even
if it is not on a bar boundary, and then "} \alternative {{" at the beginning of
the first time bar, "}{" at the beginning of the second time bar, and "}}" at
the end of it.

In fact a free lilypond text field option would be a great way for users to
unlock many lilypond features which at the moment you have to hack from the
textfile.

The way I do my music, I arrange in Rosegarden, and then export to lilypond, and
then tweak the lilypond files to get the repeats right. Unfortunately, repeats
and first and second time bars, etc, are about the second thing you want to do
as an arranger when notating your score. It's pretty much core to the process.

I believe my suggestion wouldn't be too difficult to implement? Only the user
must know that they can break the lilypond file if they do not know what they
are doing.

Regards

Angus
