Why didn't it, Chris? That's the part I don't get. Going after this with a grid quantize should have trashed the human aspect of the performance, but left everything lined up on neat lines. It didn't seem to change much of anything, and I think there's another bug here. > That would give you the right output, although of course you would > then also have quantized playback. Your fix in LilyPondExporter seems to deal with the first problem reasonably enough. I'm almost as bad as you are at really testing anything, but it passed the test case in question, and a couple of random snippets I dug up, and the change seems logical enough. I wouldn't have thought we could still have a bug like that in code that thoroughly tested for so many years, so it's pretty amazing to discover a nugget like this. What about quantizing though? I never could use any combination of quantizers to get that original performance lined up mechanically on precise boundaries, which is always my first approach to dealing with an especially human passage that just come out properly. I guess in my real world use, once in awhile I hit a few bars that I have to erase and draw by hand. Maybe none of this ever worked very well, and it just happened that the sample piece we just looked at was an entire recording showing the same characteristics as what would typically only be a bar or two in the middle somewhere. Who knows. It's kind of troubling, but I'm also no longer in a very good position to try to think about or do anything about stuff like this now. -- D.
