Dear Colleague,
we would like draw your attention to a workshop on "Emerging synchrotron
techniques for characterization of energy materials and devices":
http://www.esrf.fr/home/events/conferences/2019/energy-materials-workshop.html
taking place at the ESRF (Grenoble, France) on *23 - 25 September 2019*.
In 2020, the ESRF will restart with the new Extremely Brilliant Source
(EBS). The challenge for our scientific community will be to discover
how to fully exploit the properties of this new source to carry out new
kinds of scientific research at the ESRF. This workshop will focus on
the application of established and emerging synchrotron techniques to
understand problems from the energy sector, and investigate new
opportunities following the ESRF-EBS upgrade to open up a new level of
insight into the field. It will cover topics such as hydrogen storage
and the hydrogen economy, gas separation and storage, catalysis for
energy related processes, electrochemistry and battery research, fuel
efficiency and consumption, solar energy, thermoelectrics,
piezoelectrics and supercapacitors.
Confirmed Invited Speakers include:
Andrew M. Beale, University College London, UK
Bjørn Hauback, Institute for Energy Technology, Kjeller, Norway
Peter Hutchins, Prism Scientific Limited, UK
Oliver Oeckler, University of Leipzig, Germany
Wendy Lee Queen, EPFL, LFIM, Switzerland
Paul Shearing, University College London, UK
Julian Steele, KU Leuven, Belgium
David Wragg, University of Oslo, Norway
The speakers will highlight scientific trends in their areas of
expertise, in order to identify where the significant performance gains
from the EBS can make significant contributions to the advancement of
our understanding. All participants will join in discussions aimed to
highlight the impact the unprecedented new performance of the ESRF-EBS
on current and new experimental possibilities in the sector.
Looking forward to seeing you in Grenoble,
The organizers:
Michela Brunelli, DUBBLE/ESRF
Dmitry Chernyshov, SNBL/ESRF
Marco di Michiel, ESRF
Alexander Rack, ESRF
Wouter van Beek, SNBL/ESRF
Gavin Vaughan, ESRF
P.S. we apologize if you receive this email message more than once.
