Dear All, We are pleased to announce the “NSLS-II Pair Distribution Function School - 2018”. The school will be held from September 17-19, 2018 at the National Synchrotron Light Source-II, at Brookhaven National Laboratory in partnership with Columbia, and Stony Brook Universities.
The primary objective of the school is to give a hands-on training to participants on PDF data acquisition, reduction, and analysis covering all required steps from measurement to the final model. The latest python based software package, xPDFSuite will be used for data processing and modeling. Data acquisition training will be conducted at the newly constructed PDF, and XPD beamlines at NSLS-II. All participants are required to bring their own laptop computers for data analysis. Confirmed speakers/instructors include Prof. Simon Billinge (CU/BNL), Dr. Milinda Abykoon (BNL), Dr. Emil Bozin (BNL), Dr. Pavol Juhas (BNL), Dr. Eric Dooryhee (BNL), Dr. Katharine L. Page (ORNL), Dr. Sanjit Ghose (BNL), Dr. Michela Brunelli (DUBBLE/ESRF) Dr. Benjamin Frandsen (UC Berkeley), and Dr. Jianming Bai (BNL). The space is limited, and the priority will be given to Ph.D. students and post-doctoral researchers (first come first served basis). The $ 225 registration fee will cover the cost of xPDFSuite software package and meals. A limited number of rooms in BNL dormitories will be available for a discounted price. However, the school does not cover the travel and accommodation expenses of participants. They are responsible for organizing their travel and accommodation.
