Dear Daniel, dear users of our XRD equipment, Over the last 10 years we have consistently improved the performance of our X-ray tubes on corrosion resistance, high voltage stability and life time in general, not only for the tubes themselves, but also for the optics coupled to them. Daniel: in response to your question about X-ray tube pricing: we have not changed the price of our X-ray tubes beyond inflation correction and corrections for exchange rate fluctuations.
In our quality improvement process, we have discovered that for a small fraction of our customer base, the life time limiting feature for the X-ray tube was determined by the coupling with the high voltage cable. We have improved our tubes on this point, however, the improvement is only achieved if one also does a one-time replacement of the high voltage cable. This new cable should only be used with the latest-generation X-ray tubes, recognizable by their DK number, which should be > DK 416200. We offer the new high voltage cable at a highly discounted price, which is at most ~10% of the list price of a new X-ray tube (pending tube type). Before posting this answer, I checked with Daniel whether my reply indeed answered his questions. I realized that not all of you may be aware that per January 1, 2017, we have merged with Malvern Instruments in the UK. Malvern is renowned for their particle sizing equipment using laser diffraction, their Dynamic Light Scattering equipment and their range of instruments for Bioscience. Both PANalytical and Malvern are owned by Spectris Plc, and are similar in size and revenue. Aim of the merger is to serve our customers better with a larger product portfolio, and make use of each other's knowledge in specific markets. Both Malvern and PANalytical were known entities in their respective markets. In order to maintain that visibility we decided to name the new company Malvern Panalytical. We are in the process of changing our house style, be aware that you will find us at conferences under our new name. We are happy to answer your questions on these and other topics! Dear Colleagues, We recently got the information that, on Panalytical instruments, new x-ray tubes will be produced that will require new high voltage cables ... Consequently, the new tubes will be more expensive, without accounting for the price of the high-voltage cable, per instrument. This will in return, except for larger tube lifetimes, condition our future acquisitions. Have some of you heard about this or is it only a rumor ? cheers daniel -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Daniel Chateigner Professeur Normandie Universite https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=www.ecole.ensicaen.fr%2F~chateign%2Fdanielc%2F&data=01%7C01%7Cmartijn.fransen%40panalytical.com%7Caa8c415c04974a996c5408d5697ec39a%7C300db415af614b7f85dc4423a7838054%7C0&sdata=CLAm0zJTmxxJ3E6nNnqORNbC5fCVTbeYoN186xdD6fQ%3D&reserved=0 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Editor: "Combined Analysis", Wiley-ISTE: https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Feu.wiley.com%2FWileyCDA%2FWileyTitle%2FproductCd-1848211988.html&data=01%7C01%7Cmartijn.fransen%40panalytical.com%7Caa8c415c04974a996c5408d5697ec39a%7C300db415af614b7f85dc4423a7838054%7C0&sdata=B9jpwkprBFOtK4o1rc7to7mZaqrLO5yag72aXFGLipM%3D&reserved=0 Workshops on Combined Analysis: https://emea01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=www.ecole.ensicaen.fr%2F~chateign%2Fformation%2F&data=01%7C01%7Cmartijn.fransen%40panalytical.com%7Caa8c415c04974a996c5408d5697ec39a%7C300db415af614b7f85dc4423a7838054%7C0&sdata=u0UV0UyzgMqvhXVru45ZFFBE4gq3izLYezA2hW8H0JU%3D&reserved=0 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Address: CRISMAT-ENSICAEN and IUT-Caen, Universite de Caen Normandie, campus 2 6, Bd.
