X- ray Laboratories Manager
Contract: Permanent Salary: £27,185 to £32,461 per annum plus benefits Closing date: Friday 12 October 2007 The Natural History Museum is one of the world's leading museums, internationally recognised for its dual role as a centre of excellence in scientific research and as a leader in the presentation of natural history through exhibitions and public programmes. We are seeking to recruit a manager to run, maintain and develop the X-ray laboratories of the Department of Mineralogy. The laboratories have seven X-ray generators supplying a variety of detectors and cameras including innovative position sensitive detector systems. They service a wide range of research projects and users, including students, principally from the Department of Mineralogy but also from other departments across the Museum. The successful candidate will have a well developed knowledge of X-ray diffraction techniques and data interpretation. You will also have the ability to manage such a multi-user facility to high standards of health and safety and cost efficiency. The X-ray laboratories manager will be required to train users and contribute to their projects as a team member. Past contributions to research projects involving crystallographic/structural studies would be advantageous.
