You could also try neutron powder diffraction :-) The scattering lengths 
(powers) of Al (3.449) and Si (4.151) are quite different, so it is easier to 
determine the relative occupancies of specific sites in aluminosilicates with 
neutrons - see: http://www.ncnr.nist.gov/resources/n-lengths/
