First of all, messages to this mailing list are not edited or censored by the
administrators (me). They are entirely the responsibility of our members.
On the other hand, you must be a member to post here, so that eliminates
most of the anonymous junk mail that has become part of the life of the
internet (or the suburban resident with a post box on his gate :-)

Personally as a user, I tolerate advertisements, whether commercial or
personal :-) provided they don't come too frequently. If you think that it
is a pain to delete unwanted email, you should sympathise with me because
the list has become so large, with people changing email addresses, that
each message, advertisement or not, generates 2-3 error messages for me.

The only thing I could do in the case of persistant 'offenders' is to remove
them from the email list. I only ever did that once after a user had filled my
hard disk with a looping off-topic message. (I re-instated him later).

I also remove email addresses which continue to generate error messages.
If this happens to you, please don't feel that you are being punished - just
check that your return email address is correct (send a message to yourself)
then re-subscribe using your current email account.

Alan.
