First, I apologise for the circular nature of this advertisement,

We would like to announce a forthcoming post-doctoral position for
someone to work on developing simultaneous high-temperature
and high-pressure neutron diffraction at the ISIS neutron
facility, building upon the extremely successful high-pressure
programme of Prof Richard Nelmes and Prof Michel Besson using the
Paris-Edinburgh cell at the ISIS spallalation neutron source in
Oxfordshire, UK. NERC have funded the development of high-temperature
capabilities of the Paris-Edinburgh cell as part of a two-year
programme, beginning April 1999.

The actual project is administered by a consortium of UK scientists,
and will be run from Cambridge. The consortium includes Martin Dove
and Simon Redfern (Cambridge), David Price and Nacny Ross (UCL),
Paul Schofield and Mark Welch (Natural History Museum), Alison
Pawley (Manchester) and Simon Kohn (Bristol).

The post-doctoral person will be involved in the following aspects of
the work

1.Development of the high-temperature high-pressure cell in Paris
2.Testing of the cell, first in Paris, and then on-line at ISIS
3.Development of radiographic method of temperature measurement at
      ISIS
4.Eventual commissioning of high-T/P apparatus in test experiment

The various skills of the consortium, together with the skills of the
Paris-Edinbugh team, will be available to help in many aspects of the
project.

Because of the exciting nature of the project, we envisage that a
successful completion of the project will lead to further grant
applications to NERC in order to develop the scientific programme.
