Review Comment:
Looks like we have no choice but explicitly specifying
`collation_connection` on the client side to make it consistent with
`collation_database` and `collation_server` on the server side.
After changing the collation of connection, test can be written in the same
way with both MySQL Connector/J and MariaDB Connector/J. PTAL, Thanks.
