Ah yes, the magic mkfontdir.  Totally forgot about it.

Now, if only it would work.  In that directory is created a file with the
number 0.  I ran the program against a different directlry and it recreated
the file in that directory just fine.  So, I decided to copy over a ttf font
that was in the webfonts directory and mkfontdir refused to include the
new font.  It only built a font.dir equeal to the previous font.dir.

Is mkfontdir (RH7.1) broken?  It certainly isn't doing what is expected
of it.  Doesn't give any errors either.  It just silently refuses to do
anything with the fonts that are in the webfonts directory.
