Dear list I have just used RHN & up2date to download the latest software that I needed.
Unfortunately this has messed up my network - I have a w2k machine networked to a redHat 7.2 machine. The kernel was updated from 2.4.7-10 to 2.4.9-21 and since so doing I keep getting the following errors If I try and restart the network - by typing /etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart everything works ok until it gets to Bringing up interface eth0 it takes ages and then I get [ FAILED ] if I reboot the system when it gets to the bit about eth0 again it takes ages and then it'll return [ FAILED ] then I get loads of information flying past about iptables not working correctly and that I should update the kernel the actual message is: perhaps iptables or kernel needs updating - which is what I thought I'd just done!!
