Jeff, thanks for your help. Yours was one of the earlier postings I was referring to. Can you please verify which simlinks I'll need to create? I assume: libcrypto.sso.0 -> libcrypto.so.0.9.6 libssl.so.0 -> libssl.so.0.9.6
(I noted that the current simlinks are: libcrypto.so.0 -> libcrypto.so.0.9.5a libssl.so.0 -> libssl.so.0.9.5a I also noted that libcrypto.so.0.9.6 already exists on my system: libcrypto.so.1 -> libcrypto.so.0.9.6 ) I'm eager to understand what's going on here. Is the root of the problem here just that openssl-0.9.6 should have updated these simlinks and didn't? Thanks again for your help. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Jeff Graves Sent: Thursday, December 13, 2001 11:01 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: upgrade path from openssl-0.9.5a -> openssl-0.9.6 Quoting Bill Fortesting <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: > I am attempting to upgrade openssl-0.9.5a -> > openssl-0.9.6 on RedHat 7. gnorpm warns about > dependencies for libcrypto.so.0 and libssl.so.0. > I searched these groups and found a suggestion that > 0.9.6 is not backwards compatible and provides > openssl095a-0.9.5a-9 as an "upgrade package that > allows both to be supported". > Can anbody please confirm (and perhaps explain) this > and describe the path to getting this to work? > Does RedHat have any explicit instructions? > > I have tried installing/upgrading > openssl095a-0.9.5a-9, but I get warnings > (libcrypto.so.0.9.5a and libssl.so.0.9.5a conflict). > Should I just accept this warning (that these two > files will be replaced)? > Should this enable me to install openssl-0.9.6 without > issue? > > Thanks much. > > __________________________________________________ > Do You Yahoo!? > Check out Yahoo! I think I ended up uninstalling openssl-0.9.5a and then installing openssl095a-0.9.5a and then installing openssl-0.9.6 and ignored any warnings. The other option is to only install openssl-0.9.6 and manually create the older symbolic links (I tried this and IIRC it worked).
