Well, the usual methods for troubleshooting hardware (and video in
particular) apply. Try a basic VGA driver; if the problem goes away,
you've narrowed it down considerably. Or try a different video
card, if you have one available.
I'm not prepared to assert that this is definitely your problem, but
it does have that feel to it.
