Speaking as a complete newbie, I would suggest any of the books that
come with Linux on CDROM includeding Red Hat Linux 7 Bible, Red Hat
Linux Unleashed, Special Edition Using Linux, etc.Maximum Linux Security
is an excellent book for security purposes. If you are a student, check
out student discounts to see if you can get something cheaper.If you are
rally strapped for money, LinuxMall has their inexpensive "Penguin
Power" CDs. There are other places you can get the OS on CD cheaply as
well. All the documentation you need is online. I would suggest paying
close attention to learning about the filesystem and partitioning before
you install and learn to do as much as you can from the command prompt.
