You got me to wondering about the install dates. rpm -qi has a field of
Install date so try a quick and dirty command line test I did:
rpm -qi `rpm -qa`|egrep 'Name|Install date'
Should not take too much to clean up and produce usable output like sorting.
If I get a few minutes I may try it myself since I am trying to learn perl.
Digging in the rmp man page might produce something also.
