Well, if I search man fstab(5) or mount(8) for "label" it tells me what you
want to know ;-). The use of labels is not a new option, just the fact that
RedHat uses it by default changed. Personally I dislike this new behaviour for
use with my IDE drives. For swappable drives it's quite a neat option though.

This is the volume *label* being mentioned. See man mount(8) or man
e2label(8) for info on how to change it.
