Well that is a good point. I opened Netscape just now and took out the
'ticks' for any Java things and tried to bring up any of the video stuff in
Netscape at www.cnn.com and no sir - nothing happened. I reinstalled the
'ticks' and up came the videos. Perfectly! Except for that Error statement I
mentioned above : 'netscape:error' "unable to start a java applet. Can't
fine java40.jar in your CLASSPATH'. But it does work in spite of that error??

I took a look and 'echo $CLASSPATH' brings back nothing. I wonder how that
can be where the error with netscape reports quite a list of CLASSPATH
directories..

OK.. I gave this a try. I first entered 'export CLASSPATH' (nothing after
it). And that was accepted without any problems..
Then I did it with a number of directories 'export CLASSPATH
/opt/netscape/java/classes' and this came back: 'not a valid identifier'.
Hmmm. I wonder if that statement is right . Or can only certain directories
be added to the CLASSPATH?? In any event - all attempts to export anything
out CLASSPATH doesn't work???

Well, I thank you for your response. Any little bit of information on this is
certainly appreciated..
