Hi,
I'm running RH7, with
a standard workstation class installation and have run into a problem
with logging in. I logged out of gnome and the text login appeared as usual.
>From here the GUI login usually appears after a few seconds but instead I got a
message saying, 'according to /var/run/gdm.pid, gdm was already running (661)
but seems to have been murdered mysteriously'. I can still work with the text
interface (log in as root etc) but this message reappears every 15 seconds or
so. I tried running gdm again from the text interface but it just said it was
already running.
I'm new to Linux so an easy to follow explanation
would be much appreciated!
