First question: Do your users need their own private newsgroups or access
to public/existing ones? The reason I ask is that in order to receive a
newsfeed on your server you will need an existing server to send the feed to
your (this means coordinating with the news servers' admin; many of them
won't do this!). The other option is to use a product like 'suck' (from
www.freshmeat.net) to read and post articles and INN for users to read them
(you will still need a valid newsreader account). If they are internal
newsgroups, then set up INN and add them; no external feed required.
Just a note from my experience; I tried to use the INN/suck combo on a 6.2
server and could never get INN to work. Apparently the default permissions
set by the rpm don't work and if you do anything to INN as root, you end up
having to reinstall the package. I found that installing INN on 7.0 worked
flawlessly. If you have to use 6.2, there are some faqs at redhat's site.
Good luck!
Kevin
