Greetings, everyone.

My company is attmpting to replace an older NCR Unix fax/file server
with a new Compaq Proliant ML350 with a Smart Array 431 raid controller.
There are 4 18.2G hard drives configured into a single logical drive
RAID5. Due to a limitation of the fax server software, we have to use
either 6.1 or 6.2. The only thing my boss could find at Best Buy was a
single copy of 6.1.

Using a couple of downloaded disks from Compaq, I have gotten through
the install sucessfully. However, the server won't boot. (The raid
controller is located on the 2nd PCI bus) When I try to use the boot
disk I created during the install procedure, it gets to the point of
trying to load cpqarray.o and gives the "Device or resource busy"
message. (Incidentally, I was having the same problem in the install
procedure until I found an updated "driver" disk on Compaq's website) So
basically, I have what should be a functional install on the raid disk,
but I can't get to the disk to try updating the cpqarray.o file.

Has anyone else ever sucessfully installed either 6.1 or 6.2 on a raid5
system? And no, there are no hard disks in the system other than the
ones in the raid.

Thanks in advance,

Wayne.
