The GNU Midnight Commander (gmc) can be launched by double-clicking on the Home
Directory folder on your desktop, or by selecting "File Manager" on the foot menu.

You probably need to add the pager applet to your panel. Right-click on the panel,
select Utilites, then Desk Guide.
