OK I got connected, sort of. I am getting authenticated to the pppoe server
with the username and password given me and the ppp session is established
with local and remote ipaddresses but I am not getting an ipaddress for
eth0. The result is that icmp packes work but nothing tcp does. Am I
supposed to get an address for the ethernet connection? I would assume so
but no joy yet. I am planning on using a ebay special I bought as a firewall
(p90 IBM- $85) but am tryin this on my laptop. I am very close to booting
into windows but don't really want to. Hard headed I guess.
I have been rtfming the pppoe docs but so far nothing about an ipaddress for
the ethernet card.
BTW the modem supplied is a bridge only and nothing in the docs about needing
a specific ip address.
Getting there but still a ways to go.
Any help appreciated.
