I can do just about anything SamSpade does in linux already. :-) I've
got a nifty little util called "mtr" (Matt's Trace Route) which is a
combo ping / traceroute as well as standard traceroute, whois,
nslookup, etc. :-)
Working for a local ISP, I get lots of chances to use all those nifty
tools and am always looking for more. :-)
