Vmlinuz is the compressed kernel. The one that actually boots. Vmlinux is
the uncompressed version.

Subject: vmlinuz vs. vmlinux

Does anyone know why there is a vmlinux-<kernelversion> as well as the
compressed vmlinuz-<kernelversion> in /boot? Does the former need to be in
/boot?
