id this IDE or scsi ? if it is scsi, you shouldn't ne using "hd=...", and it
should just work. if it is ide, you shouldn't be mentioning your scsi
controller - that will only confuse people into thinking that you're having
problems w/ a scsi drive.

finally if it is ide, there are a bunch of caveats, and things that should be
done (like making sure you have bios support, etc), but you didn't say that
this is a ide drive.

you also did not say the type, nature, or specifics of your problems, and it is
a bit hard to guess what difficulties you have seen.
