Steve, Unfortunately I don't remember all the details, but I've had a
problem in the past with getting Linux fdisk to see a new drive.  What
causes the problem I don't know, but I've been able to work around the
difficulty by using DOS fdisk to create a single small partition on the
drive.  During the subsequent install process I just blow the DOS
partition away & all is well.
