i would suggest starting with the actual values for your monitor, " no matter what resolution or sync rates
I try to guess. " usually takes luck. refer to your documentation and/or check the web site from your manufacturer.  if you check the manual it should list all necessary information you need pre-install process for a typical linux installation.

good luck

Subject: Newbie, not too techie

I would sure apprectiate some help.

I have tried to install Red Hat release 6.0, Kernal 2.2.5 on

three different computers.

The first computer shows the Gnome display, but the mouse

just flickers at the top of the page, and the return key does

nothing.  System is almost locked up.  No three fingered escape.

The second computer is a Toshiba Satellite 2595CDT.  I

called Toshiba and they said the card was Trident Cyber 9525

they didn't know the sync rates, or the refresh rates, could not

give me chipset, and did not support Linux.

The third computer is a desktop pc clone.  I can't find the maker

of the monitor anywhere, it is Impression5.  Refresh rate is 72 hz.

On both these last two computers the program tells there is a

problem with my video, no matter what resolution or sync rates

I try to guess.
