Nothing *wrong* with tarballs. I just *prefer* to use rpms in *my*
systems. Agreed, that may sometimes make *my* life difficult when I look
for something specific.

I *try* to find an rpm whenever possible. If not found (after having
asked you and anyone else on this list for advice) I might consider
using a tarball. *If* I find the application more worthwhile than the
*potential* problems of mixing tarballs with rpms.

Currently, the only app I have as a tarball is StarOffice.

It's a personal choice of mine. I was just asking for help to find an
rpm, OK? IMO, rpms are soooo much better than any lame attempts to do
the same in the WinXX world.

I run Linux, not RedHat? I run the RedHat distribution of Linux.


BTW, no offense taken from your post. I respect your point of view, but
I don't share it.
