Since first install there is a boot error;
   "remounting root file system in read-write mode
    finding module dependencies conf:1; missing argument FAILED"
Does this mean anything?

I installed 6.1 from a CD onto a new Quantum IDE 4.2 G drive in a
Compaq P 75 with 32 meg ram, Gnome workstation auto and had this
error on first boot before I had a chance to make mistakes.
I also had this error on a previous install on a 600 meg drive
in custom so it isn't the drive.

Everything works in read mode; help files, windows, man pages,
xterm, etc but when I try some configures I get fatal errors.
(segmentation fault usually). Even the screensaver doesn't work
thru Gnome setup menus.

Where do I go from here?
I am new to Linux and unix, done some c programming.
