Red Hat Linux release 6.0
Kernal 2.2.5 on an i586
 
after this prints up, it says "localuser login"
 
It will not accept keyboard or mouse input.  No way out but boot the system
 
again.
 
I skipped Lilo on installation.  I'm hoping to start in text mode.
 
I'm running a Toshiba Satellite 2595cdt.
 
I certainly appreciate the offer of help.

Could you give some more info about which version of RedHat or I assume RedHat and what kernel version? Does your system hang at the prompt? Are you starting in text mode or using gnome? What kind of hardware do you have? I have seen some system lockups due to IRQ conflicts with certain ISA boards at the root prompt. Need some more info to get you going.
