Apache doesn't talk to MySQL, unless you're talking about mod_auth_mysql
or mod_log_mysql.  I have a hunch that's not what you want though...

Middleware talks to MySQL.  Middleware like php or mod_perl....

http://www.mysql.com/ has RPMs (compiled and SRPMs).
