Thanks for all the response on qmail.
I did try it out, and it works well on RH6.1 too.
(I only tried the mininum, using inetd.conf and putting an entry
under rc.local,using back /var/spool/mail/<users> file)
but I agreed that it was sort of an overkill. I'm only a home user
and I dun need that many services running.
So in the end, I reinstalled sendmail
The amount of reading all those instructions, HOWTOs, takes more time
than the actual installation (and I got more confused as I read more)
Excluding that, qmail works pretty well
