I'm a stickler for details, so I'm going to correct you on this one:

Xemacs is NOT a graphical front end for Emacs.  Xemacs is a spin-off of
GNU Emacs (aka FSF Emacs).  The developers of Xemacs decided that RMS
was not accepting their changes fast enough, and began development on
their own.  (RMS claims that there was difficulty in making D@MN sure
that the contributed code was GPL'd)  Emacs (as distributed by RH)
includes the X version of Emacs with it's fruity menus.

I think emacs is too big for anything but code. But, I wouldn't use
anything else for development.
