rh 6.1 3c509b

Red Had 6.1 is not working w/ 3c509b NIC ( works OK under windows ), and
running linuxconf to configure it manually gives core dump. configuring
using
network control panel under GNOME seems to go OK, but it fails to
initialize the card
at bootup. Any ohter sugestions on getting the card operational ? THis is
on a IBM
